I just got a letter from Tica reading this:

"You need to provide me a new cat name for your kitten because Top Cat is a registered cattery name in Tica and you cannot use cattery names for household pets. So provide me with two more name choices as soon as possible."

I really, really wanted his name to be Top Cat. So does that mean that his name can't just be Top Cat or is he not allowed to have Top Cat in his name at all?

You cannot use Top Cat as his name in any form (as is or backwards, etc.) How about Tipper Kat?

BTW my cattery (registered in CFA and ACFA) is TC (stands for "top cat")

after this evening's adventure, I should perhaps consider renaming him 'Trouble'

or 'Money Eater'

Too bad he's he, I know of one cat that was named Helen Wheels (but that was a female).

Eyez Trouble? (I's trouble)

what about 'Trouble Cat'
(I'm half serious about this).

Mom wants to know if he can be simply registered as TC. Don't know if that's a TICA cattery name.

Name him ARF (Abort, Retry or Fail), or Registration Error, or No Nameyii...

Maybe change the word 'cat' in different language:
Top Gatto (italian)
Top Katze/Kater (german female/male)
Top Chat (french)

or maybe Alfa Felis

I agree with Northern Glow

You can also use baby name websites and put in a meaning, names are then listed in several languages.

I've signed up online and paid for his registration (the way TICA has it is that you call in the credit card payment - a little different since you'd think the purpose of the online is to pay online - but, oh well). I'm just glad I got it out of the way finally - as long as they don't tell me that Toppy Cat is taken.

I hope the name works for you.
TICA also makes you call in credit cards when you become a member.
You do everything online except that part.
They will not let me join the Mid Pacific TICA group until I have my membership number.
Its so different then CFA.
They told me it is because some very bad people joined the groups to bad mouth breeders.

I had the same issue, so I cannot join the SE group on yahoo right now. And I am so lazy to join. I plan to do it eventually.

I bet the other TICA group is the same way.
I have not tried to join it yet.
The person in charge of the Mid Pacific Yahoo group told me his wife is one of the judges at the Lodi show I am going to.
He also explained why they are picky with who they allow in to the group.

I just registered my HHP in TICA and they didn't make me call in the credit card number--they have an option to pay online using paypal.

I saw that. I try not to use paypal unless I have to. I find PayPal to be a pain in the butt.

that's who we named him after

I wanted something that would be closer to his name. However, before I chose Top Cat (actually it was mom's preference - had to butter her up to let me pick him out in the first place
), I was considering naming him Fancy Fancy after one of the other orange cats in the group (this was before I even met Top Cat).
