A co-worker had the pills and the shots. They knocked her off her butt. They didn't complete take the headache away but it worked better than Excedrin. She also felt nauseous from them.

I have not tried them yet.
The Dr wants to try them first and if they do not work go to something else.

About 10 years ago, no longer works for me.

I take daily medication as my migraines are chronic.

For me... same as water... nothing...
Maxalt on the other hand, worked well...

My doc in Brazil (because I have no insurance here) put me now on a medication called Topamax (Topiramate)... It is for epileptics AND migraine. You need to take it every day though.... It is only my second day, and I am VERY excited - I can't stand having migraines anymore... I was having it almost every day! The most reported side effect is weight loss, which in my case is highly welcomed!

I will keep you posted on how it is working for me - it takes about a month to really make a difference... Maybe you should discuss it with your doctor?

My MIL does....they work wonderful for her, except that she spends the day either in bed, or doing very light activities because they knock her on her butt.

Usually it's trial and error.
I am on a Beta Blocker to prevent them and so far two months without one. For some reason he thinks I get them more than I do. I didn't correct him b/c I enjoy being migraine free and don't mind taking medication.

I agree it is a trial and error....
Right now I am testing a few different ones for the really bad ones (like the ones that won't go away with excedrin, or otc meds)...
Crazyforinfo - what are you on, on a daily basis?

it works great for me, you are supposed to take is as soon as you feel the migraine coming on but there were plenty of times, like today where i woke up with a full on migraine, 1st i tried ibuprofen and it didn't touch it, so a few hours later i took an imitrex and it let up in about an hour, after you take it you should try and lay down for an hour, but there were times i had to take them at work. The only side effect i get from them is when it kicks in it makes me a lil stupid, like i cant think straight but very minor, nothing serious. give it a try, if it doesn't work for you there are other migraine medicines you can always try.
