Hi all,

I am new to this site and I am also new to being a mummy to a gorgeous 9 month old persian kitten.

I love him to bits. He is not over-affectionate, he likes to be independent but does love his Mummy

Recently I have been interested in buying another kitten as a companion to my kitty however I am in a dilemma. On the one hand, I don't want my cat to feel jealous and on the other hand being out all day at work must be lonely for him.

Can someone please help me. I would really love your opinions if I should get him a companion.

Kisses, xxx

(Translate: Hi and Welcome to TCS, Catulina and Milky say hello to you!!!...
)

Just wondering my friend......(about your question) Is really great that you want to get a new kitty for companion of you actually persian!...
...is great!.....BUT my humble opinion IT WOULD BE more TERRIFIC if you could take a kitty from a Shelter my friend....
...I mean there are lots of kittys homeless...
...
many unconcious owners drop their kittys and they´re living in a cage mostly of times....
....It would be great that you could bring to home one of those lovely furry-soul!...

Please feel as you home here, we can learn so much and deep about our kittys in this marvelous site, I just only please ask you read the rules and other stuffs that can help you to feel as you Real home!..
here you have the link my friend.

Welcome to TheCatSite jenna1872,

You have asked an important question about an issue we all must address when we add another furry sweetie to our families.

Perhaps TCS's Behavior Forum will give you the info. you need to help integrate a new kitty into your home.

I sorta doubt there will be any jealousy - you'll find it's so easy to give the same lovin' to both of them - they'll be so different in personalities that it will be so easy to give even more love.

I agree with CoolCat and others - please check out your local shelter for a companion for your little boy. Tell one of the caregivers at the shelter about your situation (like the age of your Persian, the personality, etc.) and maybe they will be able to help you choose your next furbaby to be his sister or brother.

I know if you walked into our shelter, I could recommend a kitten/cat that would fit your needs.

Lily really wanted companionship and wasn't getting it from our indoor/outdoor kitties; so when Tolly needed new home we brought home an indoor only companion for her. The two are inseparable - he offers her the kind of kitty chasing fun that we can't replicate

HI!-I'm a newbie also! It's funny-b/c my son came over today & told me that his girlfriend just got a new kitten. Her other cat is a few years old & a very BIG cat. The little one jumps all over him & makes a pain of himself, but the older one doesn't seem to mind-TOO much. It just depends on the cat. As for myself, I try & introduce the two and play with them both at the same time, & sometimes just instinct in the older cat will be protective of the kitten-it's all in the attention that you give them both at playtime, especially the older one. It may take some time depending, but it'll be very well worth it! Hope this helps.
