I got a container of freezedried bloodworms for my sisters fish today, and milo went crazy over the tinfoil top when i took it off. he was licking it and trying really hard to get the actual container. however i have no idea if it would actually be safe for a cat to have a small piece or not?

link to it from the petsmart site: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...922&lmdn=Brand

what do you think, would it be okay if he were to get a little bit every once in a while or would it be better to avoid all together and hide from him?

The only time I'd worry is about kitties eating them live in case they are hosting any nasties...but I would think that the freeze dried or frozen bw's would be fine. In my opinion.

My only other concern would be allergies. I know that humans can be severly allergic to them, I do not know about kitties.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I know a lot of people break out in an itchy rash from contact with live bloodworms.

If they're well and thoroughly dead and preserved, that ought to be safe enough in general. You could try letting the cat rub its nose against some and observing the nose for a while after, to see if the cat's allergic.
