Last night my husband and I were just falling asleep and we heard meowing and hissing coming from the hallway, we got up and Geoffery (the cat we had first) was attacking Luca (our new kitten). They have been getting along great ever since we brought Luca home, and they have been left out together for 4 days with no problems.

What should we do? Last night we broke up the fight but I was terrified the rest of the night that they would start fighting again.

Luca is so much smaller than Geoffery I'm scared that he won't be able to get away and hide if it happens again.

I need advice please!!!

Is there any way you can seperate them at night untill they "tolerate" each other?

You can try things like Feliway spray, putting vanilla on both the kitties so they smell the same, etc.

How did you introduce the 2?

Are you sure they were fighting? Sometimes boys play very rough & very loudly, especially when sorting out who is top cat, but they aren't really "fighting" or trying to hurt each other.

When my girls wrestle it's very noisy & frequently someone looses a little fur - but they are just playing
.

I agree with separating them unless you are there to supervise. Unfortunately you have no idea what led to this little scuffle. Also, if things continue to be difficult you may need to do reintroductions. This past summer I had to separate my 4 cats & they have been together as a group for 4 years now. Something set them off & it took slow reintroductions to get back to normal.
