I want to know what I need for my new show kitty. I know he's not coming until sept, but the shows in early Oct and that way I can have everything I need ready to go. I know I need a cage and that kind of stuff but, this is all new to me. Most of you already know he is a bengal, so I need stuff that will be pretty durable. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

All I take to shows is:

Curtains/base
litter pan (small rectangular food storage container)
nail clippers
baby wipes
and a pen

I don't feed them at shows, but offer water in the Summer (which they don't drink
)

In addition to what missymotus brings, I usually have a cache of different grooming supplies to do last minute touch-ups. You'll want to talk to Nial about what you need to get a Bengal coat looking its best, but I tend to have an anti-static spray, mink-oil, bay-rum (for smells), and various powders to make touch-ups to the coat.

I also prefer to use a sturdi cage as opposed to the wire cages provide by the cage service. Not all cage services are equal-- I've found gobs of fur on cages before, yuck!
Bringing your own cage reduces the risk of returning with something icky from the showhall.

Nial has told me some of the things to get already for the Bengal.
I will be showing him for my sister.
I doubt Bengals can go in Sturdi Shelters.
I use one for Cleo.

Yes they can - I know several people with the portable show cages that use them for their Bengals. They work fine.

In the case of Tiberius, I think he'll be fine in a Sturdi Shelter. He's not as rambunctious as some of our past show cats. He has his moments of course, but he's more mellow like his sire.

We stopped using the Sturdi enclosures long ago because we were showing some adult males who played too hard in them and dumped them off the benching tables. That was a nice mess!

I bought pvc show cages from a company in California. Love them!

Bengal grooming requires 1 thing, a chamois. In winter, if there's static in the coat, some anti-static coat spray will make their pelts lay flat.

Just clean their ears (if needed) prior to the show and you're ready.

I'd keep it really simple for your first show. Just use the cages they supply with a set of towels. It's overwhelming enough without fretting over sturdi cages and such. After my first 2 shows I have now purchased a small rolling suitcase that I keep packed with show supplies. Everything from a portable litter box to show curtains and toys fit in there.

There are cages and such for sale at the shows, but it's probably cheaper to just window shop there and order online later.

Frances,

Here's a link to the place I got my cages from and the link goes directly to the cages I purchased. They are easy to put up, take down and travel with.

Cage curtains you may need to have someone make for you. My wife makes all of ours herself. In a pinch you can use clips and a sheet.

So do you think I should just use the shows cage this time and go from there? I don't know much about what I need. My sister is going to be showing him while I'm at work and I want to make it easy for her, since she will be showing her kitty as well.

Carolina,
Do not be jealous.
Your turn is coming.
You should have your BSH by next spring or summer.
I am not sure if Ginger will be at any of the shows I am going to.

I can not wait for my next sphynx.
The breeder is so busy but will try to send new pictures this week.
I got the Pedigrees for the parents already.
The lines go back to Belgium on the sires side.
