Hi,

Before I go dashing off to the veterinarian with my baby girl (she's 2 years old
), I wanted to ask if anyone has had an issue with their kitties having a red discharge from one or both eyes.

I had to board my two for 7 days while I was out of town, and they both have been sneezing, although that is better now (I've been home a week), but my girl is having the discharge from her left eye, which started about 4 days ago, but no other problems.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much,

CR40

Is it red initially, or does it just look red after it dries?

It looks really red, almost like blood, after it dries. The eye itself looks fine.

My Bugsy, who has herpes, has that too, only on one eye.
Since your kitty has been sneezing, you might consider the possibility of him having herpes.
Per my vet - and I advise you consult your vet - it is nothing to worry about it, unless he is scratching his eye too much... then he could damage his retina.

Now, yellow to yellow green discharge can mean infection, and you should treat it accordingly. Having Terramicyn at home is a good idea if you have cats with herpes.

Alot less discharge last night when I arrived home from work, and even less this morning, so she must be on the way out with that (I hope!)

Thank you for your replies!
