Good Morning! WoooHooo! The girls let me sleep in this morning!!! I was on call last night, and didn't get called in. Today is my lucky day!!!

Here's today's Question Of The Day...

What is your favorite restaurant? Is it a national chain, or a family owned, one of a kind? What's your favorite thing to order from the menu?

My very favorite restaurant is a Greek family owned restaurant in town, called Alex's Greek Restaurant (not real original, huh?) They have the BEST food! I love the Spanakopita, which is a spinach dish made with garlic, philo dough and feta cheese. My all time favorite though, is their Gyro sandwich with Tzatziki (goat yogurt with garlic and cucumber sauce.)

My favorite chain restaurant is Olive Garden. I love their Pasta Fagioli soup and salad. I always get the Ravioli di Portobello. Ummmmmm....I'm hungry now!!!

mmm, sounds like my kind of place!

I don't have one favourite restaurant but rather certain dishes from different places. Salmon from Ferro on St. Clair, Roasted Chicken & potato balls from 'that Portuguese chicken place' again on St. Clair (both back in Toronto), Pita with goat cheese dip from the Italian place we found on Bank (in Ottawa) and I've very partial to a good new york strip from the Keg (anywhere).

Don't get me started on food!
There is that tomato salad I had in the food court of Commerce Court West (Toronto), and I hate tomatoes! Anything from that Mexican place in downtown Toronto, or anything from Shopsey's deli - they make great mac & cheese, not as good as Fran's, but Fran's closed down
. Mmmm goat cheese salad with a spinach and red-pepper thin crust Pizza from amatos, I'm going to start drooling... The greek chain whos name I'm also forgetting does a great Souvlaki, it drives me CRAZY when people try to do it with pork or chicken, it's supposed to be lamb!!!!

However, I am on a personal mission to find the BEST French onion soup, and so far the closest I've come is a little French bistro in downtown Toronto, but it still wasn't QUITE right. (Of course the one I once had in Vienna is what started my search
)

It's a wonder I don't weigh 700 pounds!!!

I have always found when you enjoy good food you don't need sweats after, so I REALLY enjoy my good food
.

If I eat out twice in one month, it's a pretty rare thing, so I don't have a lot of restaurants to choose from. Probably my favorite is the Red Lobster, though. It's funny to think that because I was very picky (even more picky than now!) as a kid and I hated anything except for hamburgers and pizza. I really love their shrimp dishes, with the favorite probably being the shrimp linguine alfredo. Their cheese biscuits are to die for as well, so I end up waddling out of the place every time I go. Man, I'm starving now. I may have to go out to the Red Lobster for lunch.

Being the seafood nut that I am I would have to say Red Lobster for me. I like them as well because you can also get a good steak there also.
That would be my national choice, however there is a small family restaurant just down the street from me that makes the worlds best sushi...

My favourite place is a small pub/restaurant called The Lamb. My best friend and I go there every other Sunday when her children are with their Father for the day.

My fave meal there is the Italian Chicken, served with melted cheese and tomato salsa sauce
It also comes with chips and a side dish of coleslaw.
And afters is either Vanilla cheesecake with raspberry topping, or a Monster Choccie Sundae for two (my friend and I share that between us
).

Having lived in the UK, I can vouch for the authenticity of this English pub in Dallas (Addison). Steak & Kidney pie is a favorite along with a pint of Newcastle draft and followed by bread pudding.

That looks nice, Susan.

We have several that could be called favourite in different circumstances.

*Our "Cook's on Strike" favourite is The Cheshire Cheese Inn. Depends on my mood, but I often have the liver.

*Our downtown spot for good but not celebration fare is The Keg Caesars. Their Prime Rib is pretty fine.

Those are chains, but the links are to our favourite location. Our special occasion favourites are not chains...

*For a treat for out of towners, we are fond of Monk McQueen's. The food and service are wonderful, and the view of False Creek and Downtown are pretty nice, too. We're not there often enough to have favourite menu items, but have never been disappointed.

*MY special treat place is The Red Door. There are no mistakes on this menu
, but one dish that MUST be on our table is the Shaking Beef.

And now, despite the fact that I just finished lunch, I'm drooling and hungry.

grogs(did i get it right?)....
you eat out at least ten times more than I do!
I actually found myself out for lunch today...one hour wait once we sat down ( with only afew others in the dining room)and that is kind of the way this tourist town is...
I can't say I have any comparison places, unless you included MacD and Wendy's.
I recreate dishes at home instead

My favourite place in the whole wide world to eat is Curry Village - a small one off curry restaurant owned independently. It's not in the nicest part of town but I go there to enjoy chicken korma, chicken tikka lababada, naan and of course their yummy rice (only place I'll get rice!)

Oh my!! I have lots of favorite dishes at restaurants.

Papasito's restaurant in Houston serves the best bacon wrapped shrimp, stuffed with cheese and jalapeno's then grilled on skewers. I have no idea what they call it but it is YUMMY!

And give me Benihana's filet mignon and lobster tail any day. Best eaten in Hawaii.

For fast food joints - Plush Pup in Chicago for their Italian Beef sandwiches.

For big fat sandwiches - Stage Deli in New York City - pick anything off their menu.

French baquettes with fromage in Paris......

OK, now I am drooling......

That's a hard one, considering I love food! For a chain, I'd say TGI Friday's. I love love love the Jack Daniels ribs and shrimp. Mmmm....unfortunately, they don't have one nearby, so it's a drive to eat there.

I also love sushi and there is a place in town that is my ultimate fav. Then there is one about an hour away that is a buffet and you sit at the bar and just grab off these little boats. It's so much fun and yummy!
