I have an orpnaned kitten approx. 4 weeks old. Besides taking her yo the vet.I need to get rid of her fleas have tried the dawn soap wash 3 times and still have problem. Is there anything else i can try? i was told i could use flea remedies if i apply them to the comd, and then brush it in.She is so young i am very afraid of hurting her with these products. Is this true? and are there any other ways to get rid of fleas safely? Please help! thank you.

Call and ask a vet for sure, but I know I was able to use revolutionary brand flea liquid on a nursing/pregnant mother, but not sure for kittens.. but call and ask your vet.

I agree with Sgummo. Asking the vet is best. You can also try with writing up the brand of remedy (name of it, + producer) here. Somebody may know them for sure, or look up them.

It is also possible to take the fleas for hand. I know some forumites had did so, successfully.

You can also try diatomeous earth, it worked great with our kitten. If you're going to go the bath method you really need a flea comb as well. They are fairly inexpensive (our was $10 for a dog size) just dip the comb in warm soapy water after EVERY trip.

Of everything I tried it was really the flea comb that got the most out and the dio earth that killed off the stranglers

The dawn soap does not kill the fleas, simply stuns them. Give her a bath get her dry and then start chasing the fleas with a flea comb or baby comb and a pair of tweezers. Locate the fleas, pluck them out with the tweezers and give them a death squeeze. Plop them into a jar full of warm water nearby.

Over the counter flea treatments are a no-no they can harm and even kill a young kitten. Contact your vet, get the kitten into the clinic for a visit and let the vet give you the proper medicine to kill the fleas.

It is not enough to kill the fleas on the kitten, you need to toss out bedding the kitten is using either that or wash it in hot hot water and bleach to kill the eggs. The fleas will kill a kitten making her so anemic she will become so weak and unable to fend for herself.
