He got it!

My Beau got the house we wanted! It was listed at 139,000 when we first looked at it months ago and they had dropped the price down to 119,000 when we went with the Realtor. He offered 107, then 109, and they accepted 110! We are so excited! I'm not sure when I will be moving yet but I hope it will be soon!

The entire upstairs has been redone including brand new appliances in the kitchen and new washer and dryer (also in the kitchen... still not sure about that) its 3 beds and 2 baths but there is an unfinished bed and bath in the basement (all plumbed just needs the fixtures) and a huge workshop/garage/mancave to kick the beau to LOL!

We have a home owners inspection in the morning and if all goes well and there are no major problems we will be moving in someone in September!

Congrats and take pictures when you can. One tip that you might want to do - when you are packing the boxes - label them according to what room they go in (living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc.).

Then when you bring in the boxes, put them in the rooms and it will help out a lot when you unpack Also if you can, see if you can close early and have a month to move out. This way you won't be overwhelmed in moving all at once.

You might have two house payments for a month or two, but in the long run you will have a heck of a lot less stress!

We bought our house first of May and didn't move totally in till first of July - we moved a truck load down to the new house every other weekend and put that stuff away. Made it SO much easier on everyone.

This will be my 6th move that I can remember lol! And I learned this the hard way before! I hate moving! I'm hoping this will be the last for a long time too! We are thinking there will be a lot of room to expand with this one
But its only about a mile from his apartment so that will be nice! Shouldnt be too hard of a move! Plus the best thing about guys, supply beer and pizza and they will do whatever lol!!
In our contract it says we can start moving things in on Aug. 28th so we should be able to have a while to move so that will be nice! But I dont know when I will be moving.
Probably not until mid september. Who knows!

I'm already getting lots of plans together.
Although I am trying to figure out something to put over the washer and dryer so its not so in your face in the kitchen! Any ideas? Right now I am thinking just a cute curtain or something and then some bifold doors in the future?

gorgeous gorgeous place....i'm definately living in the wrong state. I don't think I can find even a 2 bedroom 1 bath for that price. I wish the hubbys job was/is easier to transfer with cause I would be out there in a heartbeat. As long as it doesn't fall in tornado alley area, lol. Good luck with it!!

Nope very very rare that we have tornados! Luckily! They scare the bejesus out of me!!
The housing prices are definitely nice around here!

Thank you all for your kind words!

The home inspection went well today! The AC has something wrong with it (but my step dad works for an ac/heating company so that shouldnt be hard to get fixed) and the front door was letting in a little water. So nothing too major just stuff that will need fixing!

Congratulations! That's a nice area to live. You've got Fountain City to the east and all the businesses along Merchant's Road and Clinton Highway to the west, not to mention easy access to I-75 and pretty much any place you want to go. The great thing is that with everybody wanting to live out West, home prices are pretty cheap in north Knoxville. After I graduate and assuming I get hired on at ORNL, I'm thinking about getting a house near there. I'll probably end up getting something a bit further north near Powell though since my goal is to cut down my drive every day.

As for the front door and the AC, you should ask the seller to take care of it or at least knock the cost of making the repairs off the closing price. That's pretty standard when you're buying a house unless you had already been told up front (when you put in the bid) that there was a problem.

Yep he is currently living on Merchants/central ave. But the apartments he is living in is right on the main road and has some shady characters around. His car and Garage have both been broken into in 2 months!
We looked at a foreclosed home in Powell that was very nice. It was a 3 bed 1 bath for 99000. And it a nice (but cookie-cutter) neighborhood. But it added a bit more time than he wanted on his commute.

Yeah he is hoping to get them to either drop the price more or have it fixed. We will also be relandscaping the yard soon. Woot!

I agree totally! I absolutely love the kitchen.

I had a hard time figuring out the garage though. It looks like the house is built on a hill and the garage is underneath the house at the lower end?

Yes most of the garage is underground (which is completely fine with me because it means we have shelter incase of storms. I have a very bad fear of storms and tornados even though they are so rare here)

He is reoffering the options tomorrow with the inspection done. They can either lower the price or get it fixed now its up to them. Hopefully they will agree! *crosses fingers*
