OK, maybe it's not all that exciting, but today is the Grand Opening of our new shelter building. I'm going to be there to serve as a cat adoption counselor. We have a number of special events, such as miniature pony rides, demos from the local police dog, etc.

I hope some animals get adopted!

I should have looked at this post first. (in the daily thread, I asked about pics).

This is indeed very exciting Mike

Many adoption

The new building looks huge. How many animals cat you hold in it now? Is it larger than the old one?

Good luck, I hope today goes well, and lots of adoptions

We can house 30 cats, single occupancy. Right now we have 37 on display, because a number of the cages have kittens in them.

We had only one cat adoption today, below the normal level. And the sad thing is that two people decided at the same time to adopt him, and a teenage girl left in tears with a broken heart. There were a number of dog adoptions. And the place was packed.

That building looks huge! Sad about the adoption rate. That one cat must've been rather cute for two people to want him at the same time.

We've gone from 16 cages, plus a couple of portables, to 30 cages, with glass fronts to protect both the lookers and the cats.

The dog areas are much larger, too.

The cat in question was one of the sweetest little medium haired blue kittens you ever saw. He stole everyone's heart! I was surprised he lasted as long as he did.

My heart bled for the teen girl who decided she wanted him a little too late, but we do have some other nice ones.

awwww, sorry to hear that the adoption rate was low

BUT, some is better than none, even if only 1 cat went to their forever home.

Sorry to hear only one kitty got adopted. But, maybe people saw cats they wanted and just have to think on it a bit. Times are tough. I would rather see just one cat go to a good home than a bunch go to homes that really aren't ready for a cat, on the spur of the moment.
