Hello

It's that time to get the rabies shot for my beloved friend. Is it better to get the killed or live virus? I really need help on this and any advice is appreciated.

Do you have an option? They only do the killed virus around here, and it's also what I have to get to be able to eventually take my girls back through quarantine to Australia.

Yes , I have an option because I take my pets to two different vets. It's actually for my dog. In the state of California, rabies is required by law for dogs. It's the only vaccine that I get for my dogs every 3 years. I don't vaccinate my cats anymore. The cats only get kitten shots and no rabies.

Kody's breeder cautioned to only get the Merial (sp.?) non-adjuvenated rabies vaccine. Luckily, that is the only one my vet recommends also.

From what I have read it is the adjuvenates that cause the most problems.

Ask for the PureVax rabies shot (made by Merial). I don't know if it's killed or modified-live, but it's the safest.
