Our Katja is in heat again and Sasha is mature enough to mate. However, whenever Sasha gets close, they will start pounding each other and Katja will run away from Sasha.

Katja keeps calling other neighborhood cats very loudly. Our backyard is full with all sorts of cats who hear Katja's calls. She looks to be more interested in other cats. However, I need to play the role of cupid and somehow let Katja accept Sasha as a mate.

Any advice?

How much contact do they have each day? Sometimes if the male is "too familiar", the female may reject him. Try separating them physically/visually for a few days and then put her in with him.

Yes, exactly.
Next advice is, when she is in heat, have them shut in in the mating room. So she / they recognizes something especially is ongoing.
Make of course sure there are some places he can rescue himself into.

Combine these two advices.

Good luck!

Were they raised together? I read somewhere that many females won't let their "brother" mate with them, even if he's not really her brother. Maybe separating them for a while will get her to accept him.

How old are they now? Sometimes a female can sense a males age as well or he may be interested but not mature enough yet. My girls have had the choice of up to 3 males and consistently pick their favorite.

It would be wise to separate them now anyways for several reasons: 1 is to make sure the female is used to not having him around 24/7 or she will develop social anxiety when they are separated for birthing time. Also, until you see him around his kittens, there is a risk he could harm them. Granted, in our breed, this isn't common but it can happen and the juvenile males are the worst as they are teenagers and their hormones (new to them) are a bit of a stresser. Plus, having the male and female together after kittens, you will have a bred female within 8 weeks or so. My girl Bluebell gave birth on June 14 to 3 kittens and she is in heat 4 times already.

Also, my first male kept trying to rebreed and court an already preggers girl and needless to say, it was a lesson learned on separate as a good thing.

How old is Sasha ( as our breed doesn't mature until 3 or 4 I tend to wait as long as possible). Also do you have other females for him to breed as a boy needs 3-4 girls to be happy. My current boy is co owned for that reason, I don't have enough girls for him.

Where are your cats from? Knowing lines will help also as some don't breed until later.
