When I took the kitties to the vet a week ago, the kittens needed antibiotics.... I could have sworn the bottle said once a day..

But I looked tonight and its once every 12hrs.
No wonder I have so much extra.

I'll be calling the vet in the meantime, but aside from giving them the full dose... does anyone know how long the antibiotic drops last in the fridge? (the bottle was to be refridgerated, which it has been...but I know some human antibiotics that are kept in the fridge are no good after 10days).

Lesson of the day: Always double check your med dosages.

Depending on the med, usually no more than 10 days. And keep in mind they can build up a resistance, so if you haven't been giving them the dosage correctly, some vets may want to switch anti-biotics.

Thanks

I'll be giving the office a call tomorrow for sure then.

I've been giving them the wrong dosage for a week now
They were supposed to have it 2x/day, I've been giving it once.

uggggggggg. I feel so dumb.

Girl, don't feel dumb! I do stuff like that ALL the time! I've even been known to do that with my meds accidentally! (nothing ever bad or serious happened)
At least they were getting SOMETHING, right? That's the most important. Though with antibiotics, I don't know if it was doing anything since they basically need to have it constantly in their system to be effective (I think).

See what the vet says tomorrow Chris, and let us know what they say

Just to end this thread:

Vet said since they we're improving, that it was ok to continue on this antibiotic (which is good in the fridge for 14 days) and give the proper dose for the next week

She said alot of people who are used to the 2wk shot, make the same mistake I did.... so I don't feel as awful now
