And everything is completly still, after a day of windy hotness (good porn name, lol)
The big storms are south of me, but keeping an eye to the sky and a cat carrier ready to scoop Miss Ginger up and run to saftey if need be.
I have seen nothing about tornados so far with these storms, but you never know.

ETA: It is really an odd color out there, everthing looks olive drab

That doesn't sound good. When I was in the Midwest three months ago, the sky turned a sickening lemon yellow one evening, and horrendous thunderstorms followed. Neither of my "roommates" (my nephew and his housemate), both of whom grew up in the Midwest, dared drive home from work.
Stay safe!

I miss Wisconsin
I remember doing that very same thing back when i was in Wisc. getting the cat carriers out and locating the cats. Before the big storm came I used to lock them out of the bedroom so they would not hide under the bed where I could not reach them.

I saw a tornado once, roofs flying and all such. It was about 5 mile away and moving lateral to us so we just watched to go. After It passed we took a drive to see the damage. I saw a Van stuck into the second story of a building. There were houses that were totaly missing. Al that was left was the masonry of there basement.

Scarry stuff.

ps, beware the windy hotness.

I am a midwest gal, born and lived my life, and know when to run. (though I am the idiot out looking for the tornado in warnings, please, dont do this!!) So far it is just interesting, though interesting can turn on you very fast.

"Wendy Hotness." Yeah, that name will do.

Wisconsin is one of those states where it seems like the weather tries to kill you twice each year, 6 months apart.

Oops, I just started a thread about this storm... I didn't see this one. I'm watching the news, and they just showed the path of the storm and the heart of it is headed straight for South Milwaukee (my town- AAHHHH!). I just made sure all the blinds are closed and windows closed (I get a wee bit paranoid lol). Now I see the lightning- I'm probably going to have to shut off the power to my computer soon. OMG- the tree in front of my house is literally bending, and it's a huge tree. It's already flooding outside, and it's only been a few mins.

The cats are all acting really weird, Pirate is wandering around howling which is a big indicator that something bad is going to happen (he's more accurate than the weather channels lol). This is bad, I get really panicky when there's tons of wind and lightning. Eek! I'm shaking, what a big baby am I right?!

I hope everyone that is in the paths of these storms stays safe- it looks like a doozy!

Yup, I'm still here and haven't been blown/flushed away yet
. Just as I was going to get off the computer, it slowed way down outside. Now it's just raining and thunder w/almost no wind (which is BAD, it usually means somethin's a-brewin!) The weather dude was saying that he's more concerned with the storms that are behind this one that we just got- apparently they're supposed to be stronger or something? He wouldn't go into detail, the poophead. It's slowly getting lighter outside, but the sky is still a grey/green color. It's so eerie though, there's literally NO wind now. It was just like super windy, and now na-da. What the he** is wrong with Wisconsin?! Gosh golly!

Trillcat- where exactly are you in this messed-up state of ours??? Just so I know when/where to expect this storm since the weather dude refuses to tell me

Oh yeah, you've told me that before. Duh! I didn't think that the storms went that far north. Man, our news sucks down here! They don't tell us nothin'! I used to love thunderstorms- at least until I moved out and now live by myself! They're no fun anymore!!!!!

Trillcat- are u still alive and kicking over there? My area is getting it again. How u honding up? They just said that it's supposed to wind down over the next 45 minutes. 2-3 inches of rain, that's crazy!

I haven't seen winds like this in a long time! They said they're hurricane-force winds. NOT good. I see some smaller branches in the street in front of my house. I was just watching my car sitting outside in the parking spot right off the alley, and I'm very worried for it. It's my baby, less than a year old, love it to death, and anything can happen to it out there. There is a small metal windmill (decoration) that is really old, spinning out of control, and I keep having these images in my mind of it coming off the stand thing and hitting the hood of my car smashing into my windshield. I would be devastated! And it's too late now to move it into the garage- with the wind I'm afraid I'd be blown away in that little thing (it's a little red pontiac vibe). The branches that fell outside on the street fell RIGHT in front of one of my neighbors' cars that's parked on the street. A couple feet to the left and the hood of that car would've been kaputt (German for lost/dead). I just hope and pray that no one gets any damage in my area (or anyone else for that matter). Weather damage gets pricey!!!

***My grandfather and I are now worried that our basement is going to flood. It tends to flood whenever we get a lot of water- and our neighbor that helps us handle it is on vacation (he's a contractor/all around helpful dude) so we would be *beep* out of luck if it flooded!***
