Comfort foods

What are your favorite reliable foods...the kind that make you feel a little better if you're having a bad day or the kind that make you feel at home.
For me, it's:
Bacon, Eggs, and Toast
Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes
Grilled cheese sandwiches
Homemade vegetable soup
Rice - I fix it all the time, sometimes even in the middle of the night.

As strange as it sounds, when I'm feeling down I make Ramen noodles (oriental flavor) and mix in shredded chedder cheese and tuna fish. Instant tuna casserole. Or I make mashed potatoes (lots of butter, pepper and garlic salt).

Grilled cheese is always a favorite, with tomato soup or spagettioes.

My comfort food is usually Korean food, chips and salsa or german food. The first two are because I love both but can easily pick them up anywhere. The third one I normally have to make it.

Egg noodles, with lots of butter, and pepper. Lots of pepper. If I am feeling fancy, a bit of garlic and parmesian cheese.

Soup of any kind has always been my comfort food. Canned, homemade doesn't really matter as long as it's hot and there is lots of it.

True dat, lol.
Comfort food holds a special place in your heart though. Like a big hug in food form. I can eat a plate of fish and veggies and feel just great, but give me a plate of fried chicken and some good homemade mac and cheese, whole diferent ballgame.

Soup makes me feel good. Also mashed potatoes. I guess I like soft foods for comfort foods..

Or my mom's potato salad, I don't like other potato salads, just hers.

Well, the first would be ice cream:

The second is a hamburger. That was the first solid food that my Mom made me after I was sick.

Third would be cheese noodles. Not macaroni and cheese, but just perciatelli pasta with grated and melted Swiss Cheese.

Chocolate cookies and Ice cream, then popcorn!

Gotcha. My mom's broccoli casserole, fresh from the oven AND her homemade strawberry pie, no other pie, strawberry or not will do. I don't like cake, I don't like pie either except this one exception.
These things can melt a bad day into pure bliss!

Tons of great comfort foods in this thread...Something I realized tonight is that I have to add fish to my list as well. No matter what is going on if I try a new fish recipe or go back to to an old fish standby it makes me me feel better.

Nido powdered milk with chocolate powder and a tiny bit of water to make a yummy paste... Or Nido with Cerelac ; La Lechera sweetened condensed milk... Nutella on toast... YUMMMMMM!

This is tough because I've lost 40 lbs and I try not to think about my favorite foods, but my comfort foods would be pepperoni pizza, Ruffles chips and onion dip, mint ice cream, M&M's, blueberry pie a la mode, spicy chili with Fritos chips, my mom's lasagne and her cherry cheesecake.

A good pot of ham and beans with warm cornbread, rocky road ice cream, my dad's clam dip on mushrooms and mom's bouillabaisse. YUM!
