We all know the "great movies." Every time a "10 Greatest Movies of All Time" comes out, there are a few that always make the list.

Now, the guilty confession. I don't watch movies much, and I've never had the patience to sit through most of those.

I've never watched (all the way through):

Gone With The Wind
Citizen Kane
Casablanca
Titanic

Oh, I've watched parts of them, but never enough to say I've seen the whole movie.

How about you?

I have watched Titanic about 11 times, but never any of the other films.

I've seen all of Gone with the Wind and Titanic

But I've only been able to watch It's a Wonderful Life all the way thru ONCE. We watch it every year (DH's fav) and I wind up falling asleep in parts when we are on the sofa together....

I know a lot of movie critics say Citizen Kane is the best movie ever made; I strongly disagree. I've tried to watch it several times, and each time I ask myself "why are you wasting your time on this?"
As for the others, I've watched them all the way thru several times each. Love Gone With the Wind, and have read the novel several times, as well.

- Gone with the wind
- The sound of music
- Forest gump (watched 30 mins once but was bored, bored, bored!)
- Citizen kane
- Casablanca
- Any godfather movies
- Pulp fiction
- Schindler's list
- Any batman movie

Actually out of the top 20 movies of all time from this list I've only seen 2

Never, ever had the desire to watch and never did watch:
Gone With the Wind
Citizen Kane
Casablanca (or anything else with Bogart in it)
The new Star Wars movies

Tried:
Forrest Gump (cannot stand Tom Hanks)
Batman and Robin (Clooney may have been a great Dr Ross but he aint Batman)
Seabiscuit - either version, both boring and trite
Ghostbusters - was taken to see the first one and was bored to tears

Thing is, that top 10 list is subjective and is only the critics' choice. Someone else's idea of great isn't necessarily the idea of the general populace. For instance, one of my fave movies is a B&W Kirk Douglas movie called Loney Are the Brave and it isn't even close in probably the top 1,000 and many people find it boring at best. Greatness in a movie, or music or tv shows is in the eyes and mind of the watcher, and shouldn't be confused with the paid Hollywood studio hack critics.

Citizen Kane is a tedious, dreadful work or maybe I am too shallow to understand it......gimme Pirates of the Carribean.

I heard an interview on NPR with ... gee, I can't think of their names, a couple of brothers who produce movies. When they were asked what they thought the 3 best movies were, they chose Citizen Kane, Gone With The Wind, and ... are you ready? ... Galaxy Quest! Don't feel bad if you haven't seen the last one. It's a comedy sci-fi spoof of Star Trek, in which aliens arrive on earth who think the original TV show (Galaxy Quest) was a documentary, and they need help to defeat some other aliens attacking them. Tim Allen is the "Kirk" character. They pointed out that for a low-budget comedy, it had all the aspects of a great movie.

So, go figure.

It IS a sleeper, isn't it? The romance part is especially funny.

An original trailer for the movie:

Galaxy Quest

Great movie!

I have never seen Gone With the Wind all the way through. Talk about tedious, and frankly, I didn't give a damn.

Popular movies that I have never seen and still manage to sleep at night:
The Sound of Music
Grease
Apocalypse Now
Edward Scissorhands
actually, most movies from the past 10 years! I used to be an avid film-goer, but nowdays we hardly ever go to a movie.
