I know how to determine how much dry matter is in cat food and what that means. But I can't seem to figure out any of the other nutritional information.
Can anyone explain these things:
Per 100 g as fed, Per 1000 kcal, grams per 100 kcal M.E., grams per 8 oz. cup, digestibility, as fed, guaranteed analysis? I can't compare different foods if I don't understand what these things mean.
For example, Purina UR dry has this information for protein:
Guaranteed analysis - (min) 40%
Grams per 100 kcal M.E. - 12.18
Grams per 8 oz. cup - 39.46
As fed - 41.90%
Dry matter - 44.90%
Digestibilty - 85.51%
3441 kcal/kg; 1564 kcal/lb; 324 kcal/8 oz. cup
Royal Canin is even more confusing. This is for the protein:
Guaranteed analysis - (min) 30.2%
Metabolizable Energy - 31.3%
Per 100 g as fed - 32.2
Per 1000 kcal - 78.3
302 kcal per 8 oz. cup; 412 kcal per 100 g; 73 per 8 oz. cup
Is there anyone that can explain what these mean?
