Premature Kitten

I was just given a premature kitten. anyone ever walked this road before. ANY advice would be awesome.

Keep him/her in your prayers.

I have taken care of 4 premature kittens.
We lost 2 of them but saved the other 2.
You need to keep it warm and bottle feed it.
I hope it will be ok.
I had the mom when it happened.

My friend got a call from the milk barn where she works and they had found a kitten in the barn on the cement under a feeder.

They know I rehab so they wanted my number. And I went right away but he/she was sooo cold. I Have her warm. and Im getting some colostrum.

She needs healing vibes I dont want to loose her!

OH my goodness gracious..look at that widdle baby... BEST of luck, prayers, vibes that you can save this precious little one! Poor little kitten!

Premature kittens have much less chances than premature human children. Most dies, even if they have a mom nursing them.

Thus, do fight on as she is apparently a fighter who made it this long. But dont be too sorry if she goes.



I hope the site www.kitten-rescue.com has also something on prematures...

it doesn't look TOO premature to me (I've had the displeasure of seeing worse off)

Maybe its just white!

How do you feed it?
This is totally new to me.
Can the vet run a feeding tube?

I am sorry to say but as I rushed ot the vet to buy some supplies the vet wanted me to get the wee one died. She was so cold when I got her and had begun to gasp. So now I have supplies but no baby. But I have EVERYONE at that barn looking for other kittens. RIP sweet one.

If she wouldnt take the bottle I would have Tubed her. (I a Wildlife Rehabber and I am skilled in that area)

With a little luck, the other kittens arent born yet. In this case they will have excellent chances if they are born in the due time.


Delivery of one doesnt mean all the others are also born. Cats can deliver with days in between.

Oh, so it is possible??


I assume it is nothing for everyone, but some are often rescuers for small kittens. So this knowledge is handy for quite a few of the forumists.

Please, do write about this sometime when you have time. Start a new thread.
