Cat coughing -- Hairball ??

Our 11 month old cat will ocasionally have a coughing fit with some wheezing. It lasts about 30 seconds and then she is fine. She never actually coughs anything up. Could this be a hairball? We are relatively new cat owners and don't know if this is normal. It has happened 2 or 3 times about one month apart. Thanks.

You should Google feline asthma and watch a video. I thought that at first my cat had a hairball , but then I started exploring the web. I took him ton the vet and he said that he didn't feel it was asthma because his lungs were clear on the xrays. He thought it was allergies and prescribed some antihistamines (spelling). It seemed to help him.

Squee does that every once in a while, but I just figured it was a hairball, because that's what it sounded like. I hope it's not asthma!
