Ok, my Ricky Bobby has that pouch thingy hanging from his stomach, toward his hind legs. At first I though he was chubby, but i was like no way, he's fine everywhere else and it was just sagging skin. so I looked online and found out cats in the wild have that pouch for better flexibility, speed, agility, etc. I forgot exactly what it's called and am too lazy to look it up right now, but ya'll know what I'm talking about right? Can that turn in muscle? I ask because I was playing with him last night and felt a knot/ball about the size of a quarter in that same area. It didn't seem to hurt him and the only time I'm able to feel it is when he's on his back. He's about 14 months old so within the past month and a half he's been putting a lot of muscle on his body, plus he's eating a better quality food that has given him loads of energy. I know a lump or ball is nothing to mess around with, I just really think it's that one thing that got some muscle on it. what do ya'll think. i'll definately take him to the vet if ya'll think I should. i just don't want to look like a paranoid momma who freaks out over the smallest thing.

It's hard for me to tell just from the description, but it sounds like it could possibly be an umbilical hernia. These usually aren't a huge issue but I would say to take him to the vet just to be sure.

Or, at least call the vet and describe it - better to be safe than sorry, and I'm sure every vet has heard just about every question under the sun!

What you are seeing is called a "spay sway" and a lot of cats have them. No, they don't turn into muscle.

If you feel a lump then you need to take your kitty to see a vet.
