It has now been over a year since I did the 2008 Gender poll, in which we males found that our numbers had fallen even more since the last comprehensive survey held in 2006.
Here is 2008: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...hlight=%3Apoll 8.77% males
And here is the 2006 survey: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/pol...ts&pollid=1645 9.32% males

You can find earlier surveys that are less reliable because they do not show at least 100 voters, but in every case, the number of males on this site continues to drop. The women have all but taken over.

So let's see if it is continuing the trend. Are we males a dying breed? Why do YOU think there is such a hugh dispairity in the matter of gender on this site? Just vote male or female, pick one. This is a closed poll, nobody can see which way you vote. That way, people like me with a name like Lee can remain anonymous if they choose. But please do vote and make this a legitimate reflection of where we now stand in our membership by having at least a hundred voters. Also add your thoughts on why you think this discrepancy exists.

Poll closes and results become self-evident Wednesday morning.

XX genes here.

And as I have posted before, most men are on gaming or sports sites - with a cat nearby.

I always vote in my own polls at the half way mark. After casting my vote I then see the results for the first time. If I cast the very first vote its like I'm making a statement.

Making a statement? Like, "Hi, I'm Lee, and I'm male?"

I'm a female.

How come there is no "other" option? XD I'm so used to seeing that on forms and such.

Sex? M, F, or Other.

If you look at earlier polls you will find:

Female
Male
Ryan

I have absolutely no idea what that was all about as it occurred before I joined. I do know that Ryan was our super tech guy and it was evidently a private joke. Or...

Gentlemen:

I am typing this to you on my telephone. DW tells me the desktop computer on the first floor is not working. I am on the third floor, restricted to bed due to my recent back surgery. Although I can do almost anything with this phone, there are certain functions with TCS that I cannot do. One is to vote, even though I created the poll. My statement of voting midway was entirely correct as I plan on having DW vote for me by proxy at work on Monday. If guests are not allowed to vote in polls, and I do not get my desktop running, when the poll closes I will factor in my vote and redo the precentage accordingly. The final percentage will be correct. P.S., I have not looked yet.

My brother is in this group but I doubt he will vote in the poll.
Also I have had to tell some of the members here that some of members they think are women are men.

That is why I chose this to be a private poll. Some do not wish to be identified or classified. If you look at the second link I provided, you will find this was an open poll, identifying everbody. There are those that do not wish to be ID'd. That is why I chose a private poll, one which I believe will be the most accurate.

...well I just voted, but did not vote on this poll in previous years, so the results may just be skewed rather than representing a declining male population!

Lol are you asking about sex or gender? Cuz they're not the same. Jake for example, a biological male probably feels very feminine when I put on his pink soft paws and goes to sleep in his pink kitty bed
Sorry if i'm being weird lol just noting the difference since i'm all nerdy and into sociology..

Ay, the Ryan (aka Wyan) jokes... I'd nearly forgotten about all that.
I wouldn't say it was a private joke; just the kind where you'd have had to be on here at the time. It was a running gag thing mostly.
