My husband found an orange tabby baby kitty running around a very busy Starbuck's parking lot. He was tiny then, only about five or six weeks old. Some customers were shooing this poor little baby and kicking at him.

There was no sign of a mother cat or siblings, and my hubby couldn't bear to leave him there, so now he's safe with us.

One of the dog rescues I work with posted him on Petfinder for me:

How cute is he???

I had a vet tech look at him. She said he's about 7 to 8 weeks and appears to be a male.

We've had him nearly two weeks, and I'm absolutely in love with him, but I can't keep him. I have two adult cats who are very curious as to why they can't come in the bedroom now. I'm sure they can probably smell him, but there are two doors between them, so I don't know.

Oh, look at him!!! I'm in love! I can't imagine that you'll be able to give him up when the time comes. You might as well face it; cats are like potato chips- you can't have just 1...or 2! OR 3!!! Lol!

I would really love to keep him, but I have eight pets in my house and that's too many! I have a dog, a foster dog, two cats of my own, three rabbits and now the baby kitty.

I refuse to take him to a shelter because I know what can (and probably will) happen there. So unless he is adopted, he'll stay with us. I'm taking him in for his first set of vaccinations this weekend.

I'm just glad hubby brought this one home and not me! It's usually me bringing in rescued animals. At least I don't have to feel guilty about this one!

I've been letting my dog come in and play with the kitten and he LOVES it! They're so cute together. My dog is the most gentle, laid-back dog in the world. He is a little afraid of the kitten. It's so funny.

That reminds me of my foster Harley and Ramsey, the cat who swears he's a dog:

I love the look on Harley's face: "Mooooooom!!! He's TOUCHING ME!!! What do I DO???"

*edit* Ramsey was supposed to be a foster too; he was a stray who found us. After he became my husband's cuddle buddy at night, the "foster" charade was all over. Lol.

Well, no one seems to be interested in adopting Baby Kitty, so we may now have a third cat!

I'm taking him to the vet today for an exam and first set of shots. I'm a little nervous. I will be absolutely heartbroken if he has feline aids or leukemia.

One of my rescue friends told me to keep him separated from my cats until he's sixteen weeks old because the aids/leuk test isn't accurate until that age. Is that right?

If that's the case, I'll have him re-tested and neutered at sixteen weeks, and introduce him to my cats once he's recovered from surgery.

I know I'm responding to this late, but I'm new to the forum & just read the post & saw the pics of your adorable little stray kitty

I'm just like you - I already have reached my personal limit with pets & several years ago swore I would never have another cat! But sure enough one tiny little precious stray kitty shows up in my life & has made himself a nice cozy spot in my heart, LoL! What can ya do?

There are just sooo many kittens that are in need of homes - shelters are way over run with them, Craigs List is saturated with adds for them - I believe our local humane society is euthing them on a daily basis, it's just nearly impossible to find homes for kittens these days.

So I've decided to keep our stray too, he's current on shots now & I'm def going to have him neutered at the end of the month to do my part to control the un-wanted kitty population, he's still outdoors at this time.

Yes, over-population of unwanted animals is out of control here in the South. I work with two dog rescues, and 99.9% of our dogs are transported up North and adopted there.

Baby Kitty will probably be with us all his life, and that's just fine with me!

I really need to find a proper name for him. Someone suggested "Cheeto" - hee hee. Any ideas?

Baby Kitty is getting neutered today. Bless his heart. He was shaking so bad when I dropped him off.

Please think good kitty thoughts for my little baby boy today.
