So I have to ask, did you use a whole new glue applicator tip just for 1 soft paw? I usually wait til a few fall off before applying new ones.. I really wish they just made the glue tube have a pointy tip..

Yes I did use a whole new applicator tip. I only used 1 tip when I put them on the first time. Since I put all 40 caps on (4 cats with 10 claws each = 40) at one time, I have lots of applicator tips left.

Ohhhh, right. I wasn't thinking.
I started with 10 at a time, so, yeah 6 applicators won't last me as long as you. I'm down to my last one already and i have at least 10 soft paws left. I will probably use our regular super glue then that does have a pointy tip.

I just put them on our cat Ace. He has been licking his paws a little and one wont stay on. I think the claw is to short. Other then that he is running and playing as usual.

I am having a problem with them not coming off... I did cut the tip off to break the seal about 1 week ago, and nope, they didn't come out... My question is: Is there a health implication for that? I do need to use it on Hope at least, because she hurts Lucky and Bugsy with her claws (not intentionally, not mean; just playing). If it is bad for their health to keep it too long, then I will stop using it.
I find it extremely easy to put it on - it probably takes me 5 minutes for each kitty?

That's why my BF made the Calendar!! Sorry, I know I keep linking to it and everyone's probably sick of it by now.

While I don't KNOWfor sure, I can't imagine it's an actual health hazard for them to be on long, I think it just might get a little uncomfortable. I know Genever starts using her scratching board thing when they start to grow out. Try snipping the ends again, just the tips, I also do just a slight twist with her finger/nail to try to loosen it a bit, not a lot though as I don't want to hurt her.

Yeah, I have been cutting the tips, with no luck - today will be the third time I cut the same tips...

Don't know if this is a good idea, but would it be possible to drop some acetone free nail polish remover on nail? Would that help break the bond without melting the cap?

Isn't that stuff pretty toxic if the cat were to lick it off? If this were done, I think it would need to be cleaned up VERY well afterwards!

well since we are at almost 2 weeks & I have only had one that needed to be reglued I just placed a large order. I bought each of them a box of thier own color. There was a site that they were $15.99 a pkg & I got a $4 discount for ordering that many pkgs. I figure it saves me about $5 - $6 for the 4 pkgs.

Im so glad I found this site I was under the impression these things were like 100 bucks a mth and could only get them at a groomers or vet...This could potentially save my life!!! My BF is anal about his couch and is freaking because GiGi is a mountain climber and is scaling the couch. Im going to order some as soon as I get money on my card for her and Hercules my other scratch...Thanks so much for this info cuz nail trimmings just werent enough for me!!!

I'm glad you found this too. I was reluctant to try them, but finding out that they were not that expensive I decided to give it a try. My cats are good about not scratching things on purpose, but I'm not enjoying when they knead on my arm.

Soft claws updated week 4: Well this Saturday (the 29th) I will have put the soft claws on 4 weeks ago. Here is the current status: Levi & Isaac still have all 10 on & are not at all bothered by them. Jordan has lost 2 I believe it is because his claws grow very fast. I found one of them & there was a layer of claw inside. Maggie, well her royal highness feels she is above soft claws. She has now managed to get off 3. I haven't found any, so I'm hoping she hasn't eaten them. I have seen her pulling at them regularly, so I suspect hers are always going to come off faster. At any rate that is how it stands.

By the way I may need that soft claws calendar to track who needs to have them changed & when.

Well I'm happy to hear you're having good luck with them for the most part.
The one with the nail layer inside probably fell off because it's the middle of the nail shedding cycle or whatever you want to call it. The next one should stay on longer if you apply it soon.

If you want, I can PM you my email address and you can email me photos, BF would probably be happy to make personalised Soft Paws Calendars for you.
He might even make an integrated one, being the engineer that he is... This week is a busy one, but I'll at least ask him about it.

I finally found one of Maggie's this morning. She now has 4 of them off. The one I found this morning looked Just like the one Jordan had lost. It had part of the claw in it. I know that is what is supposed to happen when the nail sheds. With her I'm probably going to cut the rest off this weekend & put new ones on. I may do the same with Jordan. My grey boys (Levi & Isaac) are just fine.
