I just realized what the slang term "scaredy-cat" refers to.

I never really thought about it until it came up just now. I never dealt with cats until 7 months ago, so I had no idea until then how easily they freak out around vacuums and such.

Took my 26 years to understand the origin of the term.

Yep, kitties and some humans (like me) hide when the evil suck monster comes out!

I'm more tolerant these days, but in my youth I could not stand the noise of our vacuum.

Jake prefers not to be around when I use the vaccuum although he doesn't mind it too much when it's on...He just looks at it in a mean way for the most part

Bijou actually enjoys being vacuumed with the central vac. The carpet beater machine is a bit much for him though.

Kuce and my RB cat Sphinx doesn't mind the vacuum but Luvbug and Lil' Jag hide from the evil monster.

I am reminded daily everytime I start up my vacuum operated elevator. Poor Alley...

Must be related to Sassy whom loves to be vacuumed with my dust buster vacuum cleaner.
Pixie also likes to sit on the canister for my other vacuum cleaner when I am doing housework.
Linus however knows the truth some huge hideous monster is hiding just inside waiting for him to walk by.

Mulder likes to follow and try to jump on the vacuum... freak. Spooky will stay in the room but get up on something really high. All the other cats run and hide.
