I picked up my desktop on Wednesday and slowly have been removing/renaming/re-homing all the files the computer tech had backed up before he wiped the hard drive.

Cannot figure out how to move the Outlook emails (with .pst extension) back to Outlook. He mentioned something about moving them to Outlook Express first??

But of course I try to import while in Outlook and it asks for file type to import-well what would it be??

Perhaps I might need to call him back??

you need to ask them where they backed up the Outlook.pst file to. Usually the PST file is on this folder: C:\\users\\your computer\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Oulook.pst

Once he tells you where he backed up the old pst file, and its name, go ahead and rename it to "Outlook.pst", and drag it to the folder above. That will rewrite the new, empty PST file with the old one.

Another option is to create another user account on Outlook, and poit it to this old pst file - you can rename the file to outlookold.pst for example, and on data file management on outlook point that account to this folder.

Or...... you can just call him back

You can try to recover through Restore point. Try it from--->> start - all programs -accessories - system tools - system restore

Hope this would solve your issues.
