My situation is my household had 6 domestic cats...all shelter cat rescues...until recently when I lost one due to heart attack.
His name was Futch and he was only 6 years old. The others range in age from 4 to 13..most are active, but Futch was the "Wild One" of the bunch.

There is somethig missing in the house now...weird as it sounds the others miss him as much as I do. I have decided to adopt a purebreed kitty this time around..a first for me..but something I have always wanted to do.

My first choices were the ocicat, bengal, chausie, or serengeti...but after some research those breeds may be too high strung for my present population.

Now, I would like to consider an Oriental Shorthair..which appears to be another highly active cat...but maybe not as high strung as my earlier consierations? To be clear..my domestic cats DO play and run around...they only one that is slow is the 13 year old. I would like to have another active cat..(Futch loved to chase the others around) I almost think the others missed being chased and played with.

Any Advice?

I have no clue as to where you got the idea that Orientals were any less active as the ones you mentioned. OSH are basically non-pointed Siamese cats! They are just as active and talk a lot as Siamese and are as active as Oci's, Bengals, etc.

I love the OSH cause I like the more active cats.

As I replied in your other thread and GK said, they are active. I would not describe the mentioned breeds as "high strung", they are active but not nervy, uptight, edgy as high strung means.

Perhaps if you got a pair of kittens, that would fit in better as they'd have each other to play with and leave the older ones alone a bit.

Good thing Sphynx aren't on your list, they are very active!
