I once cut half way through my finger and never went to the dr.
Another time the scissors went through one side and came out the other and no dr.
How much is it bleeding now?

If it's stopped bleeding i wouldn't worry, but obviously make sure it's pulled close with a plaster on it.

When i had my appendix out i had the usual stitches, but i burst a small blood vessel through my friends making me laugh, but instead of another stitch they just nipped it close and taped it over where it knitted together no problem

When in doubt go and get it looked at. You aren't a doctor and neither are any of us, besides, you can't diagnose someone sight unseen.

Best to get the finger looked at rather than risk damage from cut blood vessels or nerve endings.

Apply pressure to stop the bleeding.

If the bleeding is stopped, look and try to see how deep the cut is.

If you can see bone, go to the hospital.

If you can just see tissue, and perhaps fat deposits depending on how large your hands are... Use a small butterfly stitch to hold the edges of the wound together.

The main thing that you want to do is to keep the edges of the wound together. If they don't stay together on their own, then leave the butterfly bandage on for a few days, at least three.

Also make sure to wash it daily with warm water and hand soap, and then apply antibiotic ointment to help prevent an infection.

If the site around the wound begins to feel very warm, or if you get feverish, or if there are red streaks spreading away from the cut, get to the hospital to get treated for infection.

^_^

I've cut myself VERY baddly on my arm before and not gone to the hospital. You will survive, I promise. As long as you keep it clean, dressed, and take measures to prevent infection.

They really are, if you follow the directions and don't remove them.

Unless the cut is somewhere very fatty or in your abdomen, I'd probably not go to the hospital unless bone was present. Of course if it's more than an inch deep I'd probably go too. Since for very deep cuts they sometimes insert a tube before they stitch you up to allow excess fluids to drain as your body heals.

Most of the time they're just going to suture it up with disolvable stitches and send you home with a 500-1000$ bill depending on how many "doctors" saw you.

whereas butterfly stitches cost about 5$ for a box of 10.
