I really hope this a joke, or some sort of error. If not, I'm thoroughly convinced that we have a bunch of derelicts running the country.

I used to work at a deli, two of them as a matter of fact, someone owes me a heck of a lot of money!!!!!!

I read that this was a description of the item and it was thousands of these 2lb hams that were sent to food banks at $1.50/lb... But as one commentator said, most people could get this for $0.79/lb. So still wasteful!

This reminds me of a story my in laws told me about living in communist Romania. Romania was given a lot of money to help it build up its own resources. Instead of building factories or farms they just bought food and sold it at a lower cost. Eventually the money ran out and everything became very expensive to the point where you were told which days you could shower and when you could turn your lights on. Yes, I am afraid that this is going to happen to the US.

I'm hoping there's more to it than what was listed on the invoice. At the same the time, the government is run by idiots and it wouldn't surprise me if they did pay that much out for one two pound ham.
