Ooooh...I think I can actually join this year. I love SS - the suprise is so much fun.

Last year one of my favorite passtimes around Christmas was looking at everyone's SS pics. I'll have to keep an eye open for this year.

Is there a spending limit on the gifts? I would love to participate, but can't really afford much.

No. She's right. We do.

A few of us mods do. Yes, we do accommodate requests like that.

Yes, that's right, at least that. Many spend more, but lots spend right around that. You can get quite a lot for that if you're a good shopper!
Also remember that there's postage, so add that into your budget on top of the 15.

I'm glad to see everyone's so excited...good grief!
We haven't yet started the process, and are thinking of some minor tweaks such as pushing the date of signups until possibly September. Last year we had them in August, and many people dropped out, so perhaps the sign-ups are too early. We will definitely keep everyone posted...in the mean time, keep looking for those bargains!

My sister is going to do it this year so I have to make sure I do not get her name.
I like that we knew who are ss was early so we could shop for them.
I see a lot of stuff at cat shows that would be great to get my ss this year but I will have to wait to see who I get.
It will be fun.

You know I was thinking about this a few days ago and thinking I should start getting some bits and I was thinking how some of the more organised members will have already bought, wrapped and parcelled up their gifts

i also would be glad to be yours, or vice versa. i also wouldn't mind getting a snake, as long as i ALSO got all the stuff to keep him/her healthy! [cage/terrarium, light, etc. - i don't know how to keep one, but i love them!]

Indeed
I could even point you in the direction for buying food

However,

I think we're exceeding the budget now

I don't mind snakes but I don't think they would survive the trip to NZ or the climate!

hmmmm. I'd have to say a big fat no, but not because of the climate, but your (NZ) regulations on animals/reptiles.

I have a friend in Auckland who came to visit me..... she wanted to take some sheds back with her, and had issues with them
Same with feathers. Ya'll are really strict over there. I understand the reasons
but it still sucked that my friend couldn't bring the feathers or snake skins back home with her.

Even though last year my Secret Santa fell through, the secret elves sent me an awesome gift! I am excited to do it again this year as well! I hope it goes better this year, on both sides. I felt so bad that someone else had to replace my Secret Santa.......

Yep, thats right. My sister's friend found a snake skin in her house and so she called MAF (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries) and they sent this man down with a dog that specialises in those things and they could track where the snake had been. They never found it.
