Hi All,

I have a situation with my 4.5 month old bengal kitten. She has always been playfull, happy and well behaved cat (doesn't ruin furniture, doesn't scratch anything, no demage to the house or people, except occasional jumping and nibbling on the hands, but i think this was due to teething). We have noticed that a couple of days ago, her tail was hanging stangly downward and she had been extra nice to me and my husband, like almost looking for attention. After taking her to the vet, they did ex-rays and determined that there is a soft tissue injury to her tail which means that they can't do anything besides give her pain medication ( don't remember the name but read about it, and it doesn't show any harmful side effects) and let it heal on its own.
Well, when she came back from the vet, she was a little agitated but nothing out of the ordinary, but then in the evening, something strange started happening. She has been jumping on wall corners, on us, running around like crazy and making growling sounds while doing it. I was afraid to come out of my bedroom since every time i would, she would jump on me with a great force and try to bite and scratch. She is sometimes in a "hunting" mode but this is not it. The vet told us that she might be stressed after x rays and that give it a day or so, but it's been three days now, and she is still acting insane- one minute, she is nice and head budding us, the next, she eyes are wide open, ears moving and she is hissing and running around.

Sorry for the long post, Don't know what to do here, any ideas?

I was going to say the same thing, maybe the medicine has her seeing things that aren't there.

she only had medicine once, at the vet, and it's been over a week since the last time they gave it to her..the medicine isn't supposed to give side effects such as these, this is def. something else, just not sure what

Can you confine her to a room and keep all her things in there. I am thinking the less stimulus right now the better. Not having run of the whole house may help. Also, get some feliway, this should help calm her.

How did she get injured? Is she an outdoor cat? I am just concerned that maybe something else is going on. Maybe she is still in pain? She isn't taking anymore pain meds?? Why?

Was it a long acting pain med? because maybe it's still in her system? There are all kinds of side effects that "aren't supposed to be" even with human meds - but they happen. But pain killers can definitely cause freaked out behavior.
