Your foot upon my hand

I just wanted to share this with you guys. It really gave me a lift when my friend sent it to me.

Stately, kindly, lordly friend
Condescend
Here to sit by me, and turn
Glorious eyes that smile and burn,
Golden eyes, love's lustrous meed,
On the golden page I read.
All your wondrous wealth of hair
Dark and fair,
Silken-shaggy, soft and bright,
As the clouds and beams of night,
Pays my reverent hand's caress
Back with friendlier gentleness.
Dogs may fawn on all and some
As they come;
You, a friend of loftier mind,
Answer friends alone in kind,
Just your foot upon my hand
Softly bids it understand.


When we think no one else cares, all I have to do is look into one of my cat's eyes and there is true love.

Thank you, Steph, for sharing with us that beautiful poem! My cats add such joy to my life; and I fear my efforts to balance the ledger will be found lacking. But my cats, at least, will forgive me such a shortcoming!

You are very welcome. One of the girls who volunteers with me sent that to me. I am so lucky to have such wonderful kitties in my life! They are lucky because I rescued them but I am the LUCKIEST because they have also rescued me.

I MISS CASEY, MY BUBBA DUDE!!! He was there for me every night purring in my ear. I could actually look into his eyes and see something no one else could see.

I know. I'm sorry Casey is gone.



I miss my little buddies, too. I don't want to "favor" one friend over another — but it's a fact Ricky was one of the best friends I ever had, of any species. We cared deeply about each other! But they were, all of them, lovely people.
