Hi,
Wanted to ask if anyone tried Iams weight control canned food and what was your thoughts on it? Also interested in Eukanuba weight control dry, if it's a good food?
Thanks,
Ruth

Ruth,

I would just urge you if you are going to put your cat on a diet, be sure that your vet has advised you how to proceed. Cat's dropping weight suddenly can cause some serious health issues and sometimes even their death. They need to take it off slowly and gradually and again, under a vet's direction about what food to use and how much or how little.

I use IAMS weight control food exclusively for my 17 lb cat ever since we realize she went straight from 10 lb to 17 lb within a few months after we adopted her. I use about 1/3 can wet food and half cup of dry food. She didn't like it in the beginning - now the wet food is her favorate food. I am not sure how well it worked for reducing her weight, but definitely kept it steady.

Thanks for your reply. What kind of food were you feeding her in order for her to gain all that weight in a couple of months? WoW.
Just curious.

I was feeding her IAMS regular wet and dry in the beginning. Part of the reason for her size is because she most likely is a maine coon - they get big fast. And it's a true statement that she was not only getting fatter
but did get bigger in size. All the weight gain was probably in 3-4 months.
