i treated a cat with Marquis paste on Wednesday, with another syringe in reserve to be used the following Wednesday. Does anybody know how soon I should expect to see a result? Our cat still has diarrhea, he has basically no other symptoms and is in good spirits otherwise. I'm going to talk to the vet tomorrow but should I give him the other syringe now or just wait? I'd just really like to get him on an even keel asap!

i guess Marquis is still relatively new for use on cats, so I'll update in case anybody else searches for this in the future:

turns out there was other medicines I was supposed to be giving. Initiallyt he vet thought it was giardia so he prescribed Flagyl and Centrine. But when the fecal test came up positive for isospora I was given the Marquis, and I mistakenly thought I was to discontinue use of the other meds. not so, so now our Louie is on all 3, he just had his second syringe of Marquis today, here's hoping this combination helps get him straightened out!

We have treated several kittens for coccidia over the last few months. All started on albon and were treated concurrently with Flagyl although giardia was not confirmed. Coccidia was confirmed and they were all therefore given Ponazuril - one dose per day 2 days in a row based on weight and within several hours of the second dose there was no more diahreah. This has been consistent for all who we have treated. Our vet always treats for giardia when there is coccidia because the two often go together and giardia is hard to diagnose sometimes. Good luck!
