I took part in the UK's Race for Life event today with a small group of friends. The day went really well, and even the rain held off for us during our 5k walk.

2,000 women took part in the event in Chichester this morning, and the atmosphere was fantastic. My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves and hope to take part again next year.

I have one photo which was taken...I'm second from the left in the white t-shirt, my best friend Sam is next to me in the pink.

It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the course, as most of it was uphill and uneven surface (we had woodland to walk through).

I feel OK considering I had trouble with my back and feet earlier this week, and having the warm up beforehand really helped as well.

I agree! Congrats!!
What a wonderful thing you did!

A girl I work with who is in her mid 50's is currently doing a 1,000 mile bike trek for Habitat for Humanity. They get driven to some place in the USA along with their bicycles and over a 2 week period make their way back to Winnipeg.

I can't imagine cycling every day for as many hours as they will have to in order to cover that distance in 2 weeks. They bike rain or shine and at night they stay in cheap hotels.

They pay for all of their own expenses and prior to going they each needed to collect at least $2,000 in donations. 100% of the money they raise goes towards the cost of one house. They know the name and situation of the woman whom the house is being built for. I thought that was so neat.
