Hello we got a 9 month old kitten recently and he is very active. He is so wild and wooly that he is wearing out our two 8 year old cats. I am considering getting a fourth cat as a companion for him. What I would like to know is what is the best age. Should I get a younger kitten or a cat more so his age? Or does it really matter? The older cats won't mind as long as the two of them chase each other around the house instead of the older cats who just want to lay back and enjoy the sunshine.

Thank you

One about the same age would be OK, but probably anything from about 3 months up would work.

Ok thank you I wasn't too sure on what age would be best and how young to go. We will start looking around for another wild and woolly little boy to keep our current little devil occupied. He is so wild that I had to put my curtains up because he was climbing them!! He also climbs window screens and patio. I don't know if this will stop it but it might keep him more wore out by chasing another friend around the house instead.

Probably a lot of that hyperactivity will go away, but not immediately. Cats aren't really adults until well past 1 year, sometimes as late as 2 years.
