I don't know if this is the right place to put this thread. If you've read my other posts Patch (my 1/2 feral boy) is terrible to give pills to. I can't hold him especially since he needs to take it for 6 weeks, he's a monster when I try to do something for him
He has a bad staph infection, the Vet needs him to take Baytril. I tried the pills, I've sliced, diced and mashed up the pill in all kinds of wet food, tuna juice, kitten milk, treats, baby food, nothing, I changed to liquid, tried to hide it in everything above, no good, people would tell me he'll eat the food if he's hungry, but we, as cat lovers know, that being hungry will not make them eat anything they don't want to eat. So I have to break down and give him wet food without the Baytrill because he needs a heart medication and a 1/4 low dose aspirin for his enlarged heart, which I have no problem with, its a very small pill and can easily be hidden in his food. Its been a battle of wills between us. He won out. I called the Vet and found out we can give him a transdermal gel. I will take him into the Vet and they will shave a little section on his back and I can apply it there. I never heard of this before, so I'm very excited about this.
I wanted to let everyone know that has trouble with pilling their cat this is a great alternative. I've been so upset, not being able to give him his medication.
Hopefully I can pull this off. Thanks for reading.
