i have a hiding place
...for absolutely no reason, then come and tell me about it

yesterday when i was out walking i was in such good spirits that i felt as though i were floating,
i passed a woman, that could very well be me in 20 years, and she smiled brightly at me, and
our souls seemed connected for those brief seconds, kindred like, she was to me.

share a passing smile with a stranger and your soul will smile.

Blue,

You're so sweet! Every day I try to do one act of kindness like hold the door for someone, or let someone go ahead of me at a stop sign, etc. These days people walk around with such anger and so self absorbed that they fail to pay attention to what's going on around them. I know that when I do one random act of kindness a day it makes me feel like I'm not such a bitch even if I am in one of my moods. If everyone did that, there might not be so much violence in the world.

"Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." ~Attributed to both T.H. Thompson and John Watson

I know that right now your posts are taking on a desperate edge. I am here if you need to unload on someone, and I just hope that your life gets better soon.........

a desperate edge ?

i thought i was doing my best to spread inspirational posts, hissy, and now i'm thinking
the opposite

i hope i am not bringing people down, i am maintaining as well as i can.

random acts of kindness... i saw a bumber sticker on that awhile ago, and now
i cant remember what it said exactly...

anyone else ?

donna

that is my thinking exactly, everything becomes so self-indulged that we cannot
even look outside and past ourselves to see others, help others.

You are spreading inspirational posts, which are filled with love and understanding. However, I too have inferred from a few of your most recent posts that things aren't going well for you just now.

Please don't think you're bringing anybody down! No, your posts are beautiful and heartfelt glimpses into how this world of ours could be a better place. And so it shall, thanks to the like of you.

Oh Blue, your posts and threads are VERY inspirational!!! It's just that we all know how sad you have been lately, and we all care so much, and , and, and.....okay...I am in the same boat you are....sad, but yet happy, because I have met so many kind, caring, wonderful people on here!!!!

As far as smiling at a stranger....if it was a female...no problem. But a male...well sad to say in this day and age, you can't smile at a strange male, because he could be a psychopathic killer, or a stalker, or a rapist...isn't it sad we have to worry about who we SMILE to? What is this world coming to???

i have a hiding place
that is very true, it reminds me of a song, i'll post it here.

The Story - Ani DiFranco

'i would have returned your greeting
if it weren't for the way you were looking at me
this street is not a market
and i am not a commodity
don't you find it sad that we can't even say hello
'cause you're a man
and i'm a woman
and the sun is getting low
there are some places that i can't go
as a woman i can't go there
and as a person i don't care
i don't go for the hey baby what's your name
and i'd alone thank you
just the same

i am up again against
the skin of my guitar
in the window of my life
looking out through the bars
i am sounding out the silence
avoiding all the words
i'm afraid i've said too much
i'm afraid of who has heard me

my father, he told me the story
and it was true
for his time
but now the story's different
maybe i should tell him mine
all the girls line up here
all the boys on the other side
i see your ranks are advancing
i see mine are left behind

i am up again against
the skin of my guitar
in the window of my life
looking out through the bars
i am sounding out the silence
avoiding all the words
i'm afraid i can never say enough
i'm afraid no one has heard me

and despite all the balls that i've been thrown
and forced to drop
on the social totem pole
i'm preciously close to the top
the put you in your place
and they tell you to behave
but no one can be free
until we're all on even grade

and i would have returned your greeting
if it weren't for the way you were looking at me'

who you smile at is your choice, judgement is always a good thing to have on your side,
of course. just use your best judgement, i'd say. that's what i try to do.

Kate, you are just the sweetest girl! I sense that though your only 20, that your soul is longer lived and much wiser. You simply amaze me.
