So my boy cat Osiris has some urinary issues. He has been fine for about a year now. From the time he was 6 months to a year old he struggled with a blockage and bad urinary infection. I had taken him to the vet numerous times due to super stinky bowel movements and because he was extra gassy. Apparently his infection was so bad that it affected his digestive system. After 3 days overnight in the hospital, months of meds (including Dasuquin) he recovered. I had him on Wellness and actually put him on Nutro Max Cat because of it's lower magnesium level. He did great on that. Well as some may know certain formulas in the Nutro line were recently pulled off the self to be reformulated... Due to the zinc and potassium levels. Well that put me in a pickle. I had to switch his foods. I decided to try Chicken Noodle Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul (slightly on a budget, even though I work in a pet store I do not get a discount on cat/dog food and the prices keep going up). He has been on it a month and he is getting super stinky bowels again and isn't urinating as much as he normally does.

Any feedback on this food? It is so hard to pick a food for him since he is a urinary troubled kitty. Any suggestions? I know the vets recommend the Royal Canine, Science Diet, and Purina prescription foods but I am not a fan of the ingredients in these products. I am going to give it a few days and keep an eye on his litter box. If things don't improve its vet time for my man again.

Words of comfort and suggestions?

Im going to see how the rest of this bag goes... If the bowels don't improve I think it will be time to make a switch!

You didn't say in your post what type of litter you use, but if you use a clumping litter, you can monitor his urinary output more easily. The clumps of liquid waste should be fairly large. If these clumps are really small it might mean Osiris is having problems such as another infection.

Yes I do have clumping litter. I am watching him whenever i see him go in the box. He isn't going as much as he used to (meaning his urine spots are smaller then they once were). I am keeping a close eye on him. He is getting alot of wet food right now (wellness) and frequent water changes. I wonder if having well water can mess with a cats urinary system?
