indeed it does...and as in your title: Wow seems to cover it.
That was wonderful. Well not wonderful this soldier died of course, but as your titile says, WOW. His family must have gotten so much comfort at all those people paying their respect to him, and the billboard, just amazing.
I don't have sound so can someone explain the video to me? I mean, I understand a soldier died, but why the long drive through all the cities and counties? Who was this guy? I mean, personally I think every soldier should be welcomed home like that, alive or dead, but I'm just curious about why this particular one got such a reaction.
wow talk about a walk down memory lane. almost 3 yrs ago we laid to rest a good friend of mine that fought in Iraq. The town was shut down during his funeral procession and everybody was out along the roads. It was nice to see all the support but also sad that such a horrible event brought together a town.

it was just songs put to the video. He was somebody who went and fought for OUR freedom and everybody was paying their respects to him by coming out. Its hard to fit that many people in a church/funeral home so the town allowed everybody to pay their respect roadside. My town did the same for my friend who was killed. I agree with you I think any soldier that comes home alive or dead should get this welcome.
I have to give NJ a pat on the back, when our New Jersey Army National Guard Troops returned home just a few weeks ago, the state welcomed them home with a parade through Trenton

The police was giving them a escort, his body had just got flown in, and I guess they were bringing him to the funeral home. It was just a soldier who was protecting people like me and you. He died fighting for our freedom.
That was very touching. It is amazing how people come together in time of war. I also agree that all solders should have a home coming like this. My cousin is in the Navy and we went to see her ship come in and it was very touching. The first men who get off the boat are the ones who had babies while they were gone. I also went to see her off the next time she was deported and we were waving and their was a boy who couold not have been over 2 years old standing next to me waving and said "Bye Daddy I'll miss you"
It was heartbreaking.

Our local troop is Iraq now, two of the men have children at the Kindergarden/day care where I work. There are some more who were students with my kids. I worry about them all the time.Originally Posted by Emy4cats

I'm in tears now. I agree every fallen solider (or surviving one, for that matter) should be honored like that. Wow is right. God bless and protect every service member out there and around the world. Thank you for sharing this.
If you liked this video you must see if you can get the movie Taking Chance with Kevin Bacon. It was an HBO production if I recall right. It is the story of an officer who volunteered to bring the body of Chance home after being killed in action. Beautifully done. It follows Chance from Dover to his final rest. It gives you a great appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice of our military and the family they leave behind.
