So, last night my parents and I went to Summerfest, a HUGE outdoor music thing right here in Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. I think it's the largest in the world if I'm not mistaken. But anyhoooo, I went to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. What a great show! I only knew a handful of her songs, but some of the songs I heard I did not know that she was the one that made them. Like that Everyday People song that's used in commercials on TV? Never knew it. And she looked great for her age, I think she's in her 50s or something. I kept telling my mom that I LOVED and wanted her hair, and I'm only 20. That shows you how young and "hip" she looked lol. Does anyone else like her?

Just thought I'd share with y'all

Oh, I've always loved Joan Jett and always wanted to see her in concert! I grew up with her songs (yeah, I'm almost 40) but I just loved her hard edge and attitude. I think she and Heart are some of the first and only "hard rock gals" that actually made it.

She had a show at our fairgrounds when she was just becoming a big name when I was 19. I worked as a hostess at Denny's on the graveyard shift, and I was really hoping she would come in. But no, we just got all the drunk people that were at the concert. They all said how great her concert was....I was so jealous!!

Her hair always was great!

Did you forget about Pat Benatar? There's also Kate Bush - though her music is more diverse she's definitely influenced a lot. Both have done a lot more than just "made it". There's also Bonnie Tyler, as far as popular female rock singers go.

I grew up listening to Joan Jett - I think my dad may even still have those LPs.

Ive actually loved her look since forever. Her music is alright, I"m actually not as exposed to it as some people. As in, I don't know much of her music.

I love her too!
All those rock chicks of the 80's were pretty cool. I like her style as well. I always wanted to have jet black hair but everyone has talked me out of doing it. I've been every single other color but.

They are making a movie about the band and her. The "Twilight" chick is playing Joan.
She has the hair and everything.

Sounds like it was a fun time!! I love outdoor concerts.

LOL, that's why I said "some of the first"..I knew there were more, but there weren't many back in 80's and early 90's. There were all breakthrough artists. And I LOVE Bonnie Tyler!
