Stupid California budget! Since they can't seem to pass it, I'm going to get IOU's for my paychecks until they do. That's only half my income, but that's the half that was budgeted for the wedding....grrrrrr!! All this because our ding-a-ling of a governor won't raise any taxes. I'd rather pay more tax right now than not have a real pay check.

Sorry....it's just had me in tears for a week now. My wedding dress is on the way and I may not get to use it.

I know it doesn't help to hear that, but at least you have a place you can come to rant about it!

Indiana just passed their budget, FOUR HOURS before the stupid deadline. I had many friends and family members who were pretty scared. I hope everything turns out okay.

It will be ok. I can't believe CA is giving out IOU's instead of paychecks! I mean, I believe YOU, but that is just crazy!

You WILL use that wedding dress, you just have to decide how and when. If you have a wedding date picked out and your heart is set on it, are you willing to just have a small ceremony and maybe a cookout for the reception? Or if you want the big thing, are you willing to wait? This isn't the end of the world, and if you and your fiance can get through this and decide what you both want, that is what is important.

basically like calico2222 said, if you have your heart set on that date you can do a really low budget wedding and if not then wait, i know its a bunch of BS and you must be heartbroken over it. you almost had me in tears!

Not to downplay your emotions at this time, but how the heck is it legal for you to get IOU's instead of paychecks?

I don't understand. What does their budget have to do with you getting paid for legitimate work you do, when you are supposed to get paid?

Contact a lawyer. What they are doing sounds like it's against the law. You can't withhold half of someone's pay cheque and give them an IOU instead. That's just wrong!
