I know that some may not agree with me on this but help would be appreciated. Yang has developed a bit of a cold. He is sneezing a little here and there with a slight nasal discharge. He is still active and playing and eating and drinking. Right now I can not take him to the vet money is major tight and like the post in the lounge I am about to take my son to Savannah to see his specialist.

Anyways I called the vet and told them whats up. And they asked if I had any antibiotics already in the house and I told them I do (Omnicef 250mg liquid) and they told me to give him a little of that 2 times a day for 7 days and it should clear things up. But once I thought about it I don't know how much a little is. He weighs about 2 pounds and I gave him a little less than 1/4 teaspoon. Does that sound about right?

If things don't get better is 7 days I will take him to the vet. I will have the money then. Until then does that amount sound about right.

(PS the meds were from last week when my son (middle one) has a red eye. I did not give all the meds because the doctor always orders more than actually needed). Thanks.

You need to be very very careful with the dosage... Can you call your vet and ask him how much exactly?
A little of human medicine can be A LOT for a cat - especially for a kitten...

I understand. The vet or vet tech should be able to give you a dose amount over the phone based on weight. It would be a good idea to read the label on the antibiotic to see what it says. If it is 250 mg per teaspoon, then 1/4 teaspoon is 62.5 mg. Maybe find a syringe (no needle) at the drugstore or maybe you might have one. Ask the vet about the amount to give in the syringe (cc's or ml). The dose will be more accurate that way.

While you have vet on phone, maybe ask if adding L-lysine might help. Must be pure lysine, not with any additives. You can crush a pill easily. This helped my orphaned boys when they were young.

Best of luck to you on getting Yang over the sniffles and sneezes before it gets worse.
