When we remember we are all mad,
the mysteries of life disappear and life stands explained.

MarkTwain

(PS: I don't think Mark Twain inserted the smilie)

If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

Adding one more..... so very fitting for me and alot of other people I know.

To promise not to do a thing is the surest way in the world to make a body want to go and do that very thing.

Oh Laurie, you are missing some wonderful stuff. I'm not crazy about his books like Huckleberry Finn but I love his other stuff. If you get a chance go to a library and get Mark Twain Tonight performed by Hal Holbrook. It's fantastic. I had the LP and have upgraded to the CD recently.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
You know, I don't know how it happened? Maybe I read something as a kid, but it sure never "took."

I'm also surprised it's not a part of our collection. We have a huge storage unit from all the stuff when we lived in a house, and most of it is books. I've been really remiss, hunh?
I will have to take care of that!

Laurie, you have an incomplete education! Mark Twain is a must read. I love "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court."

Jenny just graduated from Elmira college (I really do have to post pics
) where Mark Twain's wife graduated from as well. He wrote the majority of his major works there. Jen had to read Tom Sawyer before freshman year. It is a major place for Mark Twainites to visit.

As for my favorite Twain quote, see my siggy!

And I believe I've read everything he's ever written. Probably the most truly American writer our country has produced.

His comment about telling the truth is interesting, but he also wrote that everyone lies (and it is, of course, the truth!).

Another quote:

"Tell the truth or trump, but get the trick."

"A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" has been made into several movies. And you've probably seen the Disney movie, "The Prince and the Pauper."
