You are a wonderful, amazing person to hand feed her and care for her and medicate her and give her fluids. Because of you, she passed on peacefully and in the arms of someone she dearly loved, and because of you her last months were not horrible and painful like they could have been. Now she is your angel and I am sure she is watching over you.

Rest in Peace, Lita.
I think this is a beautiful post and could not possibly put it any better.

Play happily over the bridge, sweet Lita.

I agree. I think that post pretty well sums it up. You were wonderful to have cared for her so long. She must have felt very loved and safe until the end. You are a very special person.

Thank you for all your very kind words. Lita and I were very close due to daily hand feedings 3 times a day, and giving daily medications. I have been unemployed since her diagnosis last January. My awesome vet got somewhat attached to Lita as she was up at the vets office to visit 2 times a week because she loved to go and see the vet and the animals up there. How weird is that? This death is very tough for me......but time will heal my wounds
Here is an image of Lita in happier times

when/if i have to lose another [a given, i know] this is exactly how i would wish for her/him to go - peacefully, knowing s/he was loved to the end! so sweet & loving of her to leave on her own, sparing you that 'guilt' we know you'd feel if you had to help her on her way. 'Lita did the loving thing, as you were planning to - how wonderfully precious of her! i love the picture of you singing to her as she made her way over the bridge, too

i know from experience, sadly, how difficult the next months will be for you... allow your others to console you - & don't be surprised if 'Lita pays you a little 'visit' to let you know she's doing ok in her new home, & is patiently waiting for you when it's time for you to join her there. meanwhile, Hope is enjoying her lovely presence & keeping her company, just as she is to all of our dear departed little ones...

Lita and Lucky are both seal tabby points. Lita was a little darker than Lucky.

I do not often come here to the Rainbow Bridge, just too sad for me, I cry and cry.
I have to give my thoughts about your Lita's death.
She left you in a manner all her own, and I think that is beautiful. She spared you the pain of the ultimate decision and choose to pass in your arms, being sung to. I am crying again.
Goodbye sweet Lita you are
now.
