If you think real hard haven't you always wondered where the cows we know of today originated from, you never hear of a cow as a wild animal.

Today I looked this up and found out the cows we know today did have a wild ancestor, and cows are related to other animals we see today but might not have even known cows were related to.

First, take a look at wild cow relatives here, you may be surprised.

Next, take a look at our cows wild ancestor, which is extinct. Pretty tough looking! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auroch

Finally, here is the attempt to bring back the extinct cow breed by selective breeding of cows to make them exactly like their wild ancestor, they look almost identical. These are wild animals now but are endangered since there are so few. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heck_cattle

That Heck bull is so pretty and mean looking. Is it my imagination, or can you see his breath?

That's one Heck of a bull! My dad had a Hereford bull that the neighbouring cows would come to visit and I thought he was big.
