Dog Food For Cats?

Is it true if the food is super high-end (no byproducts, fillers, etc) like EVO and CORE your cat can safely be fed dog food? I know it's quite dangerous if you're feeding Beneful or something, but if this can be done, it sure would help my budget.

EVO , the EVO 95% meats ,some other canned are the same dog or cat /// Check with a vet ... I saw that CORE fish canned was the same but the COre poultry is slightly different , my vet said okay in rotation

If you are asking about DRY dog food to be given instead of cat food, it would be best to take the list of ingredients for both foods and take them to your vet. EVO dry dog food and dry cat food are different.

Cats have different nutritional needs than dogs.

I believe sharky's advice was in regards to CANNED food. I don't think this applies to the dry food. Sorry, I'm not much help.

if your cat eats dog food every now and then or steals a bit from the dogs plate this shouldn't be a problem though it's not ideal.

What you can't do is feed cats nothing but dog food as cat food must for example contain additional taurine as cats can't produce it in sufficient amounts themselves. In cats taurine is required for a healthy functioning of the heart, retina, bile fluid and certain aspects of reproduction.

Dogs on the other hand can produce taurine themselves out of cytein, an amino acid they take up with their food. Therefore dog food contains less taurine then cat food.

I wouldn't feed a dog cat food long term or vice versa.

Cats also require additional vitamin A in ther diet.

Curious about EVO.

I e-mailed EVO once and they said the formulas are the same. I compared the dog and cat food cans and the dog food has selenium while the cat food doesn't. Could this be harmful to the cat in any way?

The cat's EVO duck here is $3.19 while the dog's version is a few cents below $2. That's a big difference!

Cats have different nutritional needs then a dog does. One of the things that cats have to have is Taurine, without this important ingredient your cat could go blind. And if I am not mistaken that is something that is not in dog food.
