Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone here has experience with Savannah cats. I just suddenly became interested in them and would love to know more about them. From what I hear, they make really good pets and have a pretty cool personality.

I've never seen one as they are illegal here. I prefer cats without wild blood

Gorgeous but too much cat for me.
Animal Planet had a Cats 101 all about them. Watch it, you would like it.

They are beautiful cats, I agree. There is quite a bit of info on them out there. They are a cross between the African Serval and domestic cat. Some breeders charge up to $21000 dollars for a kitten.
. The last issue of Cats USA 2009 has an article on wild cats.

The show I was at last weekend had a high percentage F1 male Savannah on exhibit. He was huge, but very docile, behaving himself very well in his show cage.
His breeder wanted $21,500 for him. Pretty sure she didn't have any takers.

What? You didn't have that in your pocket?

Nope, and if I had, it wouldn't have gone into her pocket. He was/is a wonderful cat, but the price tag was outrageous.
I know breeding Savannahs is expensive, but....c'mon.

I think they're beautiful, but don't have any personal experience with them. I'm not sure they're legal in my county...a man I know had a liger and they banned exotics here to force him to get rid of it.

I have an F3 male Savannah, 8 months old. I also have a 2 year old Bengal and a 14 year old Abby. I am sold on having a Savannah. He is not all that big, being taller and longer than my Bengal but only 10 lbs. at this time. He is very affectionate and he absolutely loves my wife and I. He is crazy fast and jumps over 5' high. He demands lot's of attention and he needs lot's of play time and room to play. I would only recommend one to someone who is willing to give that cat the attention he/she needs. My Savannah, named Deizel, was very easy to leash train and he loves to walk around our yard on the leash. Any other info I can pass on?

I would love to have a savannah but I have started to change my mind to having a really nice looking bengal. I think that bengals are alot more pretty.

I have a Bengal and Savannah and when I have them both out my Bengal get's more "pretty" comments but there is nothing more elegant than seeing a full grown, long, leggy Savannah.
