Sarah Palin, your 15 minutes are up

Thread Starter
How is she still in the news every day? Even on the day Michael Jackson died?

I see a pattern emerging though -- she always reemerges as having been victimized. Not with any great original ideas.

Thanks for letting me vent.

LMAO, did you see how she attacked a blogger about a photoshoped picture? The blog is getting millions of hits and donations. Had she kept her mouth shut it would have gone away and no one would have even known about the blog!
LMAO, indeed! This is so true!

*sigh*......I have the feeling she's never going away.

First off, the photo you mention is a horrible caricature of her little baby Trig.
Maybe some people think it is okay to poke fun of a disabled baby, I just don't happen to be one of them.

Secondly, maybe if Senator John Kerry wouldn't have felt the need to make a tasteless joke about Sarah Palin while giving his speech this week Sarah wouldn't have felt the need to reciprocate. When Kerry was talking and laughing about Governor Sanford disappearing in his speech, he said, "to bad it wasn't the Governor of Alaska that disappeared". What a guy.

I see that it is okay for people to talk trash about her and demean her baby but if she defends herself she is looking for "fame". Give me a break.

What I wonder is how she has the nerve to show her face on TV after all the stuff came out about her being so ignorant during the campaign. She should be hiding in a corner and studying geography.

Come on, that's just silly! The picture isn't a caricature. It has a man's head photoshopped onto Trig's body. The picture has nothing whatsoever to do with Trig and everything to do with Sarah Palin and the man whose head is there. She's just feigning outrage over it because she doesn't like the message.

For what it's worth, I don't believe all that stuff that came out about her right after the election. I think it was just some of the McCain staffers throwing her under a bus because they felt like she cost them the election. The bit about not realizing Africa is a continent sounded particularly far-fetched to me.

Oh come, on, the republicans knew they had no chance in winning this as they were voting in the primaries. It was the democrats turn to win, and they would have won no matter who got to be on the ticket and the republicans knew it from the start..It's why I think they chose such ridiculous clowns for their candidates, cuz they had no hope...and I think the staffers were in that category as well.. I fully believe in her ignorance.

Not so sure about that. Had September 15th never happened, who knows where we'd be now? That did it, because it happened to be a Republican administration in office at the time. The election was still close, even after that.

But back to the original thread - she's always in the media because folks put her there. They don't know what to do with or about her - I think many are afraid to find out what she may accomplish some day.

So, you call John McCain, a man that has served his country his entire life
a "ridiculous clown"?

And I think that is a pretty rotten, tasteless thing to do, but I'm sure many people think it is funny and have no idea why Sarah Palin would get upset about it. Nothing like poking fun at the disabled to get a cheap laugh, eh?

Yes I do. Do you think every single man who serves his country in a war and is a senator for many years is automatically immune to stupidity and radical ideas?

What stupidity and radical ideas would that be?

It is sad to see such a shocking lack of respect for man that served his country in the military for 20+ year, not even mentioning the fact of the 5+ years of torture he underwent.
I don't think McCain is any more ridiculous than what we have in the White House and Congress right now. Even though I don't care for him as a politician, I have all of the respect in the world for his military service.

Hindsight is 20/20 but it's obvious that Palin wasn't ready for the spotlight or scrutiny that comes with being on a presidential ticket. I sure as heck don't like anything about what we have in the office now.
I really don't think she's anywhere near as ignorant/stupid as people and the media make her out to be. I wish she would go to a vocal coach to at least soften her accent. It's not one that most of the lower 50 can relate to, so it feels "foreign" to us. To many people, there is still the idea that if it's different it's lesser than me.

As far as what she said on the campaign trail, it seems everyone seems to conveniently forget that Obama said there were 57 states too, and the numerous flubs that Biden made too. What makes her mistakes any different? Does anyone really think that Obama doesn't know how many states there are in the US?

But threecatowner nailed it - she's still in the spotlight because she's still being put there by others. She's still invited to be a speaker at national functions. The press covers her every move. Comedians and politicians who want to be comedians continue to poke at her. Bloggers use her image to make a statement. She may well be ready for her 15 minutes to be up (I doubt it - she is still a politician!), but the ones in control of the spotlight aren't.

I think it is sad that McCain like so many others like him fell victim to the ignorance of US government during the Vietnam war and were sent to fight such a senseless war. All veterans have my sympathies. Now, respect is not earned just by being a soldier in my world. At least not fully- I have some respect for him for being brave etc, but that doesn't mean that he can't be a target of my political convictions. I dont' want to go into it, I mean he was a good intentioned candidate and he was trying hard, but I don't feel like he was the best one the republicans could choose for their ticket and compared to the others, I say he's a clown because he can't even compare to some of the others that didn't make it..
As far as Palin- I think people still find her mistakes and the whole idea of having her as a serious politician funny. I think she has not been serious from the start- or maybe hasn't been treated seriously, either way people are enjoying the media making fun of her and take her as a joke no matter what she does. So they just keep going, whatever sells...

I think you could ask this question about a lot of people. John Edwards. His wife. Michael Jackson, if it comes to that. Britney Speares. Paris Hilton.

The problem with 24 hour news is that they have to fill it with something.

So very, very, very true.

So, what you are saying is, you don't have a reason for calling John McCain a "ridiculous clown", except for the fact that he followed his Commander in Chief's orders when deployed to Viet Nam. I got it now.
No, i said exactly why I am calling him that, and it had nothing to do with his military service.

I didn't mean it literally.
Okay, I get it now. McCain is a "ridiculous clown" because you feel he should not have gotten the nomination. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Wow, really? You're ripping on someone because their answer didn't meet your criteria? Ironic, isn't it, when you defended Carrie Prejean's "right to have an opinion", devoid as it was of any reasoning whatsoever.

Your own words from that thread:

Carrie Prejean gave an opinion, that is fine and she gave her reasons, she didn't just call someone names.

But thank you for digging up that old post of mine.

Back to Palin, this may be old news but I heard today that the hacker got into her Yahoo acount because her password was her Pets name. Duh? I found that a bit slow on her part.
I was speaking figuratively -I stress this because if I had called him that literally it would have been different and rude- I was simply trying to make a point, trying to illustrate how ridiculous he looked to me and how ridiculous I felt the choice of his nomination was compared to all the other candidates- I wasn't trying to call him a ridiculous clown just because I want to be rude or mean to him. It was just a figure of speech. Maybe it's offensive to say that to someone even if it's not meant literally- but when I make a point I am always blunt. And it isn't just me who does this, if you open the newspaper to the political cartoons section you will find all kinds of politicians being called something figuratively to illustrate a point- just one example of how people use unrealistic words or pictures to make a point.

I don't know if McCain was the best choice out of a group of bad Republican candidates or not (I voted for Ron Paul), but the Republicans don't have a strong candidate that can unite the fractured party. When it came to this past election, I don't think the Republicans would have won no matter who was running for them. I don't think it made him a clown to accept the nomination of the party as its candidate for president, I don't think he had the charisma or force of personality to pull it out.

The mob is fickle.

Do you know what the most common password is?

"Password"

Do you know the most common PIN for debit cards?

3579

It doesn't take much research or guessing to hack most peoples' accounts.

Umm... I've used a name of a pet for a password (may he RIP). Helped me think of him often. I guess I've been called worse things than slow...

If ya can't take the heat...
You betcha! Palin needs some thicker skin for politics!
