Hi All!

I was sitting in front of my TV eating Eucalyptus Candies (hard candy - eucalyptus flavoured, for the american's here it kind of tastes like menthol but sweeter)

Well, my kitten Freya came up for petting and cuddles and was interested in what was mommy eating? well, like I do with all my cats, I let her sniff it as I find, if you don't show them what you're eating & they notice you have something yummy... well all hell breaks loose as they clamour to get to it, but if you show them, then if they don't like it (95% of the time they don't) they'll leave you alone)...

Well. She scrunched her nose up, shook her head and jumped back as if a bug had bit her! lol, I nearly died laughing. I had to test this out, well, only one or two of my cats loved the smell, the rest had the same reaction, one even hissed at the candy!

Obviously they don't like the smell of it, I wonder if spraying eucalyptus would work to keep cats away from things they shouldn't be getting into? lol, the reaction was just so cute.

hey maybe you are on to something there
Max is the same way with me. He always has to investigate what I'm eating, what I'm getting out of the fridge or cabinets, what I'm giving the kids...and on and on lol.

Eucalyptus is poisonous to cats, so you probably don't want to be spraying it around in case they walk through and then clean themselves.

That's interesting. So I should not use eucalyptus oil in diffusers when I have a cold?

Koalas eat eucalyptus exclusively. Any Australians with stories of encounters between koalas and cats?
